Lithium-ion batteries have been widely studied over the past few years due to their various advan-tages such as high-energy-density, long-term stability, and mature energy storage device. Intense ongoingresearch and study have been focused on large-scale devices such as electric vehicles (EVs) and energy storagesystems (ESSs). However, at above 45°C the electrochemical performances of LIBs are often degraded owingto hydrogen fluoride (HF) formation in LiPF6 based organic carbonate electrolyte. Herein, we propose a noveldual-functional polymeric binder based on a polyisoprene-block-poly(4-vinlypyridine) block copolymer, whichis capable of HF scavenging and withstands mechanical stress during the charge/discharge process. The binderdemonstrates the stable galvanostatic charge-discharge capacity with high coulombic efficiency of 94.7%. Theproposed dual-functional binder is thought to be a good answer to develop high-energy-density LIBs. Keywords: Rechargeable Li-ion batteries, polymeric binder, block-copolymer
